Steven Spielberg is a highly influential and commercially successful American film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born December 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he is considered one of the founding pioneers of the New Hollywood era and one of the most influential filmmakers of all time.

Spielberg's career began with television work, including directing episodes of "Columbo" and the television film "Duel" (1971), which garnered critical acclaim. He transitioned to feature films with "The Sugarland Express" (1974) before achieving blockbuster status with "Jaws" (1975).

He is known for directing a wide range of genres, including science fiction ("Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"), adventure ("Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Jurassic Park"), historical dramas ("Schindler's List," "Saving Private Ryan"), and many more.
